Baby Girl Millie album: pink + mint

Today I'm sharing 2 pages with you! I actually tend to look at my pages as stand alone projects instead of a 2 page layout. I do make sure they don't clash but I don't plan them together. But this time I was inspired to run these together. For these pages I used the Maggie Holmes core kit, Baby Edition for Her core kit, 5th and Frolic core kit and a card from Studio Calico. And the gold stripe tag is from the Target dollar spot. I also used a few Heidi Swapp stamps that are new to my collection.
These pages just capture some happy everyday moments in our lives. They just make me happy! This is what I love about pocket scrap-booking... it's relatively easy to record our memories. And now that my baby girl is 5 years old, going back and putting this book together is so sweet. Each age has it's challenges but you don't remember them when you look back. :)

Baby Girl Millie: 10 months

I'm into my oldest daughter's baby book 10 month! I used the Baby Edition for Her core kit and some paper and elements from the Heidi Swapp September Skies paper pad. I also incorporated lots of letters for the Alphabet Soup challenge for the Paper Issues crop on Facebook.
I recently bought the HS paper pad on sale at Michaels. I was actually thinking it would be a good selection of papers for our baby boy when I get to his book. I anticipate buying the Becky Higgins baby boy kit when it comes out but I know I'll want to add to it. Right now I own mostly girly kits. :) All the pinks and soft colors appeal to me!
I love this particular card! The picture is horrible... very blurry. But the moment was so perfect, I had to include it! This card is HS paper and one of the card papers from that pack cut up. And I had to add some pink to tie it together by edging the 'you & me' with pink gelatos.

Laura's Celebrate Layout: Part 2

Hello! Today I have the second page of my baby girl's birthday to share with you! This page incorporates more of the 'Celebrate' Take 10 kit which you can still get 10% with the code 'create10'. I tried to keep this page in keeping with the same color theme as the previous one. The green stripe card incorporates a new color that fits perfectly wit the pink and blues.
I also used some gelatos again to highlight the 'enjoy the little things' card and sprinkled some gold chipboard pieces throughout.  The chipboard pieces are from the Heidi Swapp gold foil value kit and the cards that aren't from this kit are from the Becky Higgins Strawberry Core kit. The Strawberry core kit is one of my favorites! And the bright colors mix and match so well with the 'Celebrate' kit and the birthday theme.

This page shares some of the faces of our guests as well as the first bites of chocolate cupcake. I laugh remembering the funny faces she made that day! Can you just imagine a whole table of people singing and staring at you while waving fire in front of your face!? And then after trying to avoid getting too much sugar in our baby's diet, we give them a whole cupcake to eat up. :)

We were so blessed to celebrate with family and friends!

Two Challenge Cards

This week I made 2 cards for the Paper Issues Crop challenge. I love this group on Facebook! Everyone is friendly, inspiring and active in the group. Sometimes a couple simple cards is just what I have time for and still perfect to get in some creative time.
The first challenge was to make a 15 minute card with no stamps. I needed to make a quick card for a family birthday anyhow, so this was perfect. I cut some coordinating strips of paper and pulled out some previously cut flowers I'd never used. I hand-wrote 'happy birthday' and added some silver doodles and swirls. After writing a message on the inside, I let my girls decorate the inside and back of the card. I love it when they can help out!
The second challenge was to make a card with just scraps. I always end up with strips of paper and I just can't bring myself to toss them. So I had the perfect pile of scraps to make a star-burst card! And the large middle burst was left over and in my stash too. I left the center blank for a stamp or hand-written message when I know who the recipient is. It's nice to have a card ready to send out in case I don't have time to create one when I need it.

Baby Girl Millie: 9 months

In these 2 pages, I used the Dear Lizzy Neapolitan core kit and the Baby Edition for Her core kits. This layout records quite the variety of stories in our lives! In this 2 week time frame, we celebrated birthdays, enjoyed the fall weather and said goodbye to loved ones. It was emotional time and the hidden journaling on the rose card took me a while to complete.
1 Peter 1:3-9 says:
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, who are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ, whom having not seen you love. Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory, receiving the end of your faith—the salvation of your souls.
When I focus on these verses, that whole week is more hopeful and comes into focus. The focus is eternity, not here and now! If I were to focus on only here, I'd drown in my sorrows and worries. Each day has plenty of troubles of it's own, not to mention reliving past ones. But I am so grateful that Jesus' promises believers, there is more. I have an inheritance, a future that is 'incorruptible, undefiled and does not fade away'!
Recording even the sad stories is important because it reminds me of the hope that Jesus gives and bring all of life into focus! It gives me strength to be thankful for the hard times and gives me even more joy in the good times.

Laura's Celebrate Layout: Part 1

I was so excited to get this month's Take 10 kit and realize I had my baby girl's 1st birthday photos printed! This is the first page of about 4 for this event. :) First birthday's only happens once and I already had a hard time editing the photos I wanted to use.
I'll be sharing another page at Studio 29 Designs blog next week and more here as soon as they're done.
I might also be sharing glimpses of these birthday pages on my Instagram while I'm working on them. And it might be a month before you see the final pages because baby boy is due in 2 weeks so I'm taking a bit of a scrappy break to cuddle my little one! Use the code 'create10' to get 10% off so you can keep scrapping with this kit while I'm off!
The theme was 'Cute as a Button' and full of pink, so the bright colors of the Celebrate kit are the perfect compliment. I used my gelatos a lot on this page! I love it when that works out. They add such fun color to any card!
On the title card, I added the 'No 1' wood veneers from my stash (a Studio Calico 2014 summer kit) and painted them pink with my gelatos. I also misted the bright white card to add a little more pop. And I used gelatos and a baby wipe to create a background for the celebrate stamp. The pinks and blues blended so well this way! I also used a couple gold chip board elements (Heidi Swapp gold foil value kit) throughout the page for more fun. I like how it adds an element of festive glitter to the whole page! And the gold/white card is also from HS and the stripe one from Strawberry. You'll see more of the those kits in these layouts because they coordinate so perfectly!
This page is a little light on the journaling for me but there are more pages to come. I'm also creating a full page spread for this event. I only do that for special events where I know I want to highlight a memorable picture or express a larger amount of words. I know I want to record what happened this day as well as how I felt. This was a big milestone and I want her to look back at these pictures and know what happened as well as how much I celebrated her milestone in our lives. It's important to have those stories and precious thoughts recorded along with the pictures and details of her 1st birthday.  I hope you find a way to incorporate your heart amidst the celebration you record with this fun kit!
